Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery
Dr. Goldstein remains at the forefront of development in oculoplastic surgery. With over 2 decades of experience, Dr. Goldstein has performed thousands of oculoplastic surgeries.
Cosmetic Surgery
Blepharoplasty of the upper and lower eyelids (“eye lift”) – This type of surgical procedure can be both a functional and cosmetic procedure intended to reshape the upper eyelid or lower eyelid. Dr. Goldstein uses the latest technology lasers to remove excess skin and fat pockets and tighten sagging muscle from the upper or lower lids, giving the eye s a more refreshed, youthful look. Usually a blepharoplasty caused only minimal discomfort, including some bruising or swelling, which mostly resolved over several weeks. Most patients return to work or their usual activities within one or two weeks.
Endoscopic Brow Lift – This type of procedure can elevate the brows and give you a refreshed look by smoothing lines across your forehead and brow with minimal incisions via an endoscopic approach. This procedure may be used instead of, or in addition to upper lid blepharoplasty to eliminate excessive hooding of the eyelid. Small incisions are made behind the hairline to elevate the brow to a higher position. This procedure can also correct deeper frown lines between the brow by using endoscopic instruments to relax the muscles which cause the brow to droop or crease.
Laser Skin Resurfacing – Laser skin resurfacing can be used to improve or diminish wrinkles, fine lines, acne scares and sun damage. Both Co2 and Erbium lasers are available to patients who qualify for treatment.
Reconstructive Surgery
Ectropion and Entropion surgery
Entropion is when the lower eyelid and eyelashes turn towards the eye. The eyelashes and skin of the eyelid rub against the cornea (the front part of the eye) and conjunctiva (the mucous membrane that protects the eye). This rubbing can lead to excessive tearing, crusting of the eyelid, mucous discharge, irritation of the cornea, impaired vision, and a feeling that something is in the eye.
Ectropion is the general term to describe sagging and outward turning of the lower eyelid and eyelashes. This rubbing can lead to excessive tearing, crusting of the eyelid, mucous discharge and irritation of the eye. During blinking, the eyelids normally sweep across the surface of the cornea. Tearing occurs because the eyelids are not able to wipe the surface of the cornea properly to pump the tears into the tear duct.
Eyelid & Orbital Tumors and Lesions
Orbital & Eyelid tumors and lesions occur within the orbit of the eye. In most cases tumors are benign, but may need to be removed by a surgeon depending on the individual and particular case.
Lacrimal Surgery (blocked tear duct)
Lacrimal surgery addresses the tear ducts system that normally drains tears from the eye surface. This may include the exploration and reconstruction of any portion of the system depending on the location of the closure or obstruction.
Ptosis Surgery
Ptosis is an abnormally low position (drooping) of the upper eyelid and occurs when the muscles that raise the eyelid are not strong enough to do so perfectly. It can affect one eye or both eyes and is seen more frequently in the elderly, as muscles in the eyelids could begin to deteriorate.
It’s important to schedule a consultation to determine what treatment option will work best for you.
